CBI nabs four NDFB members for role in 2008 Assam serial blasts

Guwahati, May 28 (ANI): In a major success in connection with the 2008 Assam serial bomb blasts, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has arrested four members of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) in separate raids. The CBI said the four are directly involved in the October 2008 serial explosions in Assam. According to N.S. Kharayat, CBI’s Superintendent of Police, all the four arrested are directly linked to the serial blasts. “We consider it a major success and we hope to catch a few more soon,” he stated. He informed that vital clues were provided by NDFB chairman Ranjan Daimary during our nine days interrogation.One of the four, Rahul Brahma, was arrested on Thursday from Zero town in Arunachal Pradesh, where he had taken shelter with his wife and child for last few days, said a CBI spokesperson. Brahma allegedly drove a Maruti 800 car packed with explosives and parked it at a crowded business hub in Panbazar on Oct 30, 2008. It killed eight people and left 30 others as wounded. While three other NDFB bombers from Kokrajhar in Assam were arrested in a separate raid. They are allegedly directly linked to the explosion at Bongaigaon town. The three identified as B. Onsai, Indra Brahma and Lukhra allegedly rode a motorcycle packed with explosives and parked it in front of a shop in a crowded street in Bongaigaon. (ANI)
