Capitation scam: S Jagathrakshakan once again in trouble
December 16th, 2009 - 4:33 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 16 (ANI): The Capitation Fee Scam has once again gripped Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting S Jagathrakshakan, after a leading news channel uncovered a demand for capitation fee by Balaji Medical College, a subsidiary of the Bharath Institute of Education & Research (BIHER).
Jagathrakshakan had earlier denied the reports and said he was not involved with BIHER.
An RTI filed by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry disclosed that the representatives of Jagathrakshakan made frequent personal inquiries about the investigation into the donation scam.
G Singeravelu, a representative of Jagathrakshakan has however denied the charges and said he had gone to BIHER to submit the documents required by the review committee.
Whereas, the HRD Ministry claims his representative went there to inquire about the case. The senior HRD official, who replied to the RTI said, “Mr Singaravelu, OSD to MoS (I&B), met me personally in my office twice and requested for information on the case.”
After everything was brought to attention, Jagathrakshankan who was the Chairman of Balaji Medical College had said in June this year that Capitation fees is banned in the college and that he had no connection with any college. (ANI)
