Capello wants England to have winning mentality

London, Oct 17 (ANI): England coach Fabio Capello believes it is vital that the England players have the same winning mentality he has strived for throughout his distinguished playing and managerial career.

The Italian insists that attitude and belief in their ability are key components as England aim to book their place at the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, the Daily Express reports.

When did I discover I was good at winning? It is my job. I have to try always. I work for this. Always I try, when I worked with the academy, when I worked as a coach with another manager. My job is to get victories and it was the same in my playing career as well with club and country, he said.

I think it is important these players, whether they are playing with the national team or with their clubs, have to have the winning mentality.

There is also confidence amongst these players and that is very important. Sometimes we have moments where we dont play so well, not so good, but we have always confidence to score goals and that we are going to win the game, Capello said.

But there is a long way before we qualify for South Africa. We have to win more games although the position we are in is good. It is an important position. You have to accept these victories but equally think this is only one win. You have to think just about the next game. I am happy but no more than that, he added.

Capello will use the next six months to experiment with potential England stars of the future before England resume their qualification campaign against the Ukraine at Wembley on April 1. (ANI)
