Kolkata, Dec 2 (ANI): Intellectuals and celebrities led a candlelight vigil here last evening against the Mumbai attacks.
Filmmakers Mrinal Sen and Aparna Sen, writer Sunil Gangopadhyay and singer Usha Uthup participated in the rally to denounce terror.
The group sang songs and lit candles in the memory of the victims of the recent terrorist attacks that killed at least 183 people and injured scores more.
Singer Usha Uthup appealed to remain united in the face of terrorism.
“Action is needed and the priority as I have been saying is oneness, solidarity and unity. If we want peace, we have to be Indian,” she said.
“I only hope that what has happened does not divide us in the society. I feel that terrorism has no religion. Terrorism is terrorism,” said Aparna Sen.
Mumbai was hit by serial bomb blasts in 1993 that killed at least 260 people at the stock exchange and other landmarks. Two years ago, more than 180 people died when the militants bombed commuter trains. (ANI)
