Campaign launched for awareness to prevent violence against women
October 2nd, 2009 - 9:38 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Oct 2(ANI): Union Ministry of Women and Child Development on Friday launched a campaign to create public awareness for prevention of violence against women.
On this occasion, women representing various walks of life formed a human chain at the India Gate lawns.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Krishna Tirath, emphasized that that everyone in the society should make an effort to prevent violence against women in every form.
Tirath also informed that the Ministry is launching a nation-wide campaign to create awareness about the issue.
Highlighting the role of women in the development of the nation, Lt. Governor of Delhi, Tejinder Khanna, said that women should get their due place in society.
“Strength of woman has been a source of inspiration from ages, we have to respect that and give all encouragement to the women,” Khanna said. (ANI)
