New Delhi, June 1 (ANI): India’s top models have walked the ramp here and showcased the latest creations of budding fashion designers.

The young designers showcased some of the choicest outfits from their collections.

A riot of colours ruled the ramp as models sashayed down in an interesting array of outfits.

Short dresses, long gowns, western outfits, bustier teamed with skirts and trousers and overalls in bright hues made up the collection by these young guns.

Fashion Designer Rohit Bal, who was the special guest at the show, appreciated the creativity unleashed by the designers in their collections.

“The collections were very creative and what I liked about the whole evening and all the collections was the fact that there was no curb on creativity. But that’s what I think designers need to learn when they are students. Just go full on and not control yourself. It was out of control, it was great,” he said.

Until about a decade ago, pret-a-porter fashion barely existed in India, despite its wealth of fabric and lavish embroideries inspiring Western designers such as Roberto Cavalli and Oscar de la Renta.

With the booming economy and victories by Indian beauty queens at international pageants, Indian haute couture has leapt from the closet to dress a glamorous clientele ranging from Hollywood star Nicole Kidman to pop diva Madonna.

The size of India’s fashion industry is estimated at anywhere between 50 million dollars and 250 million dollars in the 35-billion-dollar global market. (ANI)
