BSNL employee arrested for giving guerrillas SIM cards
December 22nd, 2011 - 11:59 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, Dec 22 (IANS) An employee of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) was arrested for providing SIM cards on fake names to separatist guerrillas in north Kashmir’s Sopore town, police said Thursday..
“Police arrested Sajad Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, resident of Sangrampora Sopore, working with BSNL Sopore for providing 10 SIMs and one WLL connection to militants of Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
“The accused, a IT expert and a contractual employee with BSNL, has been working for Hizbul Mujahideen militant network for about one year,” he said.
“The SIMs and WLL connection so provided have been registered on fake names and addresses, and this was done with in connivance with some other accused who are yet to be arrested,” the spokesman said, adding a case has been registered and investigations are on.
