BSF seizes heroin worth rupees 16 crore near India Pak border
December 30th, 2009 - 7:53 pm ICT by ANIFirozpur (Punjab), Dec 30 (ANI) : Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have seized around 3.2 kilograms of heroin valued at Rupees 16 crore in the international market.
During an intensive search along the India - Pakistan border on Tuesday the BSF personnel recovered four packets containing heroin buried in a field.
Briefing media, BSF Deputy Inspector General, Rajesh Gupta said :
“When we weigh the four packets, the overall weight of the packets was around 3. 2 kilograms. We have got the packets with us and would be handing it over. The international value of the seized heroin is around rupees 16 crore.”
During 2009, the BSF has seized around 47.7 kilograms of heroin, rupees 30, 94,000 in fake currency, eight pistols and three Pakistani sim cards from the Firozpur sector.
