Ajnala Sector, Feb.25 (ANI): The Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday seized 15 kilograms of heroin from Punjab’s Ajnala sector along the Indo-Pak border.
There was also an exchange of fire between BSF personnel and the Pakistani smugglers before they managed to escape by taking the advantage of the fog.
Deputy Inspector-General of the BSF (Gurdaspur) S.S. Chatrath told media persons here that the BSF noticed some movement along the border late last night. When the BSF personnel warned the Pakistani infiltrators to halt, they did not.
BSF personnel then opened fire to which there was a retaliation.
The smugglers eventually escaped, but left their consignment behind along with one mobile phone without a sim card.
The BSF guards the 553-km-long Punjab border along with the Pakistan. The barbed fencing also demarcates the border where smugglers are active on either side. (ANI)
