The security personnel noticed suspicious movement near a forward post in Samba sector, 45 km southwest of Jammu, according to sources.
The troopers opened fire to prevent the movement of the suspected intruders into the Indian territory from across the international border.
Infiltrators have been making repeated attempts to cross over into the Indian territory from the international border, as a number of infiltration points along the mountainous passes on Line of Control (LoC) are snowbound.
There have been more than a dozen attempts of infiltration from along the 199 km long international border in Jammu region since the beginning of this year.
