Broke Brits spark baby boom epidemic!October 13th, 2008 - 2:00 pm ICT by ANI
London, Oct 13 (ANI): Britains credit crunch has sparked off baby boom epidemic, as the couples head to bedrooms to beat the blues.
According to experts, Brits have been spicing up things in their beds, in a bid to save money, thus leading to a surge in pregnancies.
The crisis has sent the sales of maternity clothes and baby gear soaring.
Instead of going to pubs or out for a meal, Britons are having steamy nights sessions.
Chemists across the country have reported an increase in sales of pregnancy testing kits, while Mothercare said that sales have gone up by more than 20 pct.
Baby chain Mamas And Papas has reported a 46pct increase in sales of maternity dresses.
This year has seen a sharp increase in sales of products in our sexual health range, the Daily Star quoted Mel Wilson of Superdrug, as saying.
People seem to be staying at home and making their own entertainment, she added.
Sex toys are also popular, with online firm sextoys.co.uk reporting a 27pct increase in sales.
We are gobsmacked by the upturn in sales, while everyone else seems to be suffering, said Website spokeswoman Monique Carty.
Weve especially noticed the rise in sales of couples toys, showing that people are buying for play with their partners.
Sex toys are a lot more couple-friendly than they have ever been, said Sex author Tracey Cox.
And they are one of the quickest and best ways to introduce some novelty into your sex life, she added. (ANI)
