Kolkata, Aug 18 (IBNS) The bomb threat to City Centre-a posh shopping complex at Salt Lake area here, turned out to be a hoax, the police said Tuesday evening.

An anonymous phone call made to the City Centre around 10.10am Tuesday, warned that a bomb has been planted inside the mall which will go off in 10 minutes.

The mall was immediately vacated and thoroughly searched by the police, bomb squad and dog squad.

Panic triggered even more after a sealed box was found near a dustbin on the ground floor.

“We have not found anything suspicious….the mall has been thoroughly searched. It’s a hoax. But never-the-less, we are investigating the matter and trying to track the caller,” a senior police officer said in the evening.

If the caller just did it for fun, shame on him… and we’d do well to track him down and prosecute him.
But maybe this was done by a terrorist outfit to test if a member is an informer. Plant no bombs, but let a certain member know that there’s a bomb in a Mall.
If the police gets to know this… well…….
