The Baisakhi festival falls on April 13 and marks the start of the harvest season.Tandon said it is a fun-fill event, which also celebrates spring.
“Baisakhi celebrates spring. It’s more of a festival of fun, songs and there is no specific prayer,” said Tandon.
Jitendra, who originally hails from Punjab, said the festival was not the only aspect of Punjabi culture creeping into Bollywood.
“I’ve had a lot of fun. You’ll see that Punjabi music is a big influence in Bollywood. Everybody’s enjoying. There is rhythm, it is a lot of fun and there is a lot of merrymaking in this festival,” said Jitendra.
Baisakhi, or Vaisakhi, is one of the most important holidays in the Sikh calendar as it marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year.
It also commemorates the establishment of the Sikh community, known as the Khalsa, in 1699 by the tenth Sikh guru, Guru Gobind Singh. (ANI)
