Mangalore, May 25 (ANI): Three days after the Mangalore plane crash incident, the Black box of the ill-fated Air India Express plane was recovered here on Tuesday.

The search for the Black box had intensified, as despite all efforts it could not be traced in the wreckage of the plane. It was needed to know the last-minute details of the plane that left its 158 on board passengers as killed.

The authorities, thus, were desperately searching for the black box or the digital flight recorder right after the crash.

Investigators said the recovery of the black box was crucial and would speed up the crash probe.

“Now we hope that the enquiry team will be able to find out,” said Raghuvaran, an official of the national carrier Air India.

On Saturday, the plane had burst into flames after it overshot the tabletop runway and plunged into the forest below. Only eight of 166 people onboard survived.

The last major crash in India was in July 2000, when an Alliance Air Boeing 737-200 crashed into a residential area during a second landing attempt in the eastern city of Patna, killing at least 50 people. (ANI)
