Mumbai, Sep 28(ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)- Shiv Sena alliance has came out with notable promises in its manifesto for the Maharashtra State assembly elections, which includes 15per cent quota in jobs, educational institutions for economically backward classes and developing infrastructure.
It was disclosed by Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray, senior BJP leaders Gopinath Munde and Nitin Gadkari in Mumbai on Monday.
“Poor and down trodden sections of the upper caste have been deprived of quotas. Hence for economically backward classes we will provide 15 percent reservation and Maharashtra would be the first state to do so,” Munde said.
However, Munde said that supporting the cause of the ‘Marathi Manoos’ (people of Maharashtrian origin) would also be a part of the agenda.
Meanwhile, Thackeray said that if voted to power they would create sea links similar to the recently created Bandra-Worli Sea Link, which is a major project in their mind.
He also mentioned about a project of an eight-lane expressway connecting important cities like Mumbai with Nasik and Nagpur.
“Like the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, we will construct one more sea link which would connect Versova with Nariman Point. An eight lane express way similar to the Mumbai-Pune one would be built to connect Mumbai-Nasik-Nagpur,” said Thackeray.
Besides giving emphasis on reservation quotas and infrastructure the manifesto included issues of solving water problems and to curb the problem of load shedding in the state. (ANI)
