New Delhi, Sept 20 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress-led Central Government of not acting tough on terrorism.
“Four-year term of Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi has not only encouraged terrorism, but also allowed the terrorists from the other side of the border to execute their plans in India. In the name of Indian Mujahideen and SIMI, has given birth to such terrorists in India, the biggest crime is of this government,” said senior party leader LK Advani in a public rally in Karol Bagh, a blast site of September 13 attacks, which left at least 23 dead.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who was also present, advocated his party’’s demand for a stringent law to deal with terror.
“You cannot wipe out 21st century hi-tech terror by the laws of 19th century. Laws should be modern. Every country made new laws after 9/11,” Modi said.
Earlier, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government ruled out to bring back Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) to fight terrorism, saying that it was a draconian law and released various proposals to combat militancy. Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunshi said that POTA was against the human right and there is no question of re-enactment of the same law, which was misused in the past.
He said that the existing law to deal with terrorism is strong enough and if necessary, additional provisions will be added to further to strengthen it. (ANI)
