BIMSTEC officials meet PM

New Delhi, Aug 30 (ANI): Officials from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand called on Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh here last evening.
They are in New Delhi for the tenth ministerial meeting of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Bangladesh Foreign Advisor Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Bhutan Foreign Minister Lyonpo Ugyen Tshering, Myanmar Foreign Minister U Nyan Win, Nepal Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav, Sri Lanka Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama and Thailand Foreign Minister Tej Bunnag attended the meet earlier on Friday.
U. Nyan Win and Bogollagama also met Mukherjee separately after the BIMSTEC meeting.
The meeting focused on issues relating to terrorism and transnational crimes, environment, energy cooperation, transport and communication, tourism and trade and investment.
The meeting will prepare the ground work for the summit of BIMSTEC counties, to be held in New Delhi in November.
BIMSTEC is an international organisation, involving a group of countries in South Asia and South East Asia, which includes the countries including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri-Lanka, Thailand and Myanmar. (ANI)
