New York, Nov.22 (ANI): To ensure that his wife, Hillary gets accepted as the next Secretary of State, former US President Bill Clinton has agreed to have his speeches and itinerary vetted by the Obama transition team.
Obama’’s formal announcement is due after Thanksgiving, sources have said.
“As he has said, President Clinton will do whatever it takes to help Senator Clinton become secretary of state,” said a source close to the former President.
“You can vet Bill Clinton’’s texts all you want, but he’’s still going to say whatever he wants,” another Clinton source said.
The newly disclosed conditions come on top of steps Clinton has already taken, including handing over the names of 208,000 donors to his foundation and presidential library.
By agreeing to clear his foreign travel and talks, Clinton will still be able to cash the six-figure checks he’’s accustomed to receiving for his chat-fests and grip-and-grin photo sessions with fat-cat donors abroad.
Clinton, however, will have to tone down his tours and stay away from some of the despots who have paid him to speak in the past. (ANI)
