Bhojpur (Bihar), May 14 (ANI): Residents of Hari village in Bihar’s Bhojpur District have expressed their happiness over Navinchandra Ramgoolam being re-elected as the Prime Minister of Mauritius for a third consecutive term.
The locals distributed sweets and played with colours to the tune of drums and assorted music.
“We are celebrating because Ramgoolam has become the Prime Minister of Mauritius and has made us proud. We congratulate him and the people of the Mauritius,” said Harindar Kumar Gupta, a resident of Hari village.
Ramgoolam has become a sort of icon for the youngsters, as they recalled how he impressed them when he visited them two years ago and announced a grant worth 250,000 dollars for the development of roads and for building a hospital in his ancestral village.
“I congratulate Ramgoolam that he won the elections and also the local people, who elected him. All of us are celebrating his victory and indeed, we are proud that a Bihari is the Prime Minister of some other country,” said Malti Devi, another resident of Hari village.
Ramgoolam was sworn in for a third term on May 11 in a ceremony held at St. Louis, the capital of the island nation. (ANI)
