Bhutanese PM meets Manmohan Singh and other leaders in Delhi

New Delhi, July 1 (ANI): Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigmi Y Thinley held meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday evening at Hyderabad House here.
Both the leaders believed to have discussed about ways and means to take the bilateral relations to new heights.
The focus of discussions was to look for ways and means to strengthen special bilateral relations.
The visiting Bhutanese PM, who is on a four-day visit, also held talks with the External Affairs minister, S.M. Krishna, and believed to have stressed upon ways to build on bilateral cooperation.
Earlier, Bhutanese PM had a quite hectic schedule during the day. He called on President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and exchanged views on issues of mutual importance.
Besides, he held meetings with Minister for Finance Pranab Mukherjee, United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and the Leader of Opposition L.K. Advani.
Bhutan has liberalised its FDI laws to attract Indian investors. It has eased the norms in order to allow more than 70% FDI in sectors like hydel power, information and communication technology, hospitality, agriculture and infrastructure.
Presently, Bhutan allows 100 per cent FDI in IT sector and 70 per cent in power sector. Both India and Bhutan have agreed to develop 11,000 MW of hydel power through ten projects by 2020.
Thinley is scheduled to return to Bhutan on Thursday afternoon (July 2). (ANI)
