It is a hill station in Doda district, 200 kilometres from Jammu.
Recently, the number of tourists flocking in the region has increased considerably.
Certain events in Srinagar and a few other places of the valley, prompted the tourists to opt for Bhaderwah and they have enjoyed their holidays to the maximum.
Bhaderwah is witnessing a heavy rush of tourists for the first time in many years.
“Because of the curfew in Srinagar and certain parts of Kashmir valley, we changed our mind and decided to head off for Bhaderwah. I am feeling very good after coming here. It’s much more beautiful than the spots near Srinagar and other places of Kashmir. There are many things to enjoy,” said Simram Khatri, a tourist.
Icy capped peaks, streams, lakes, gardens, and the journey along the gushing River Chenab at Bhaderwah are among the main attractions luring the tourists.
“Some people told us it is risky and unsafe place. But we were still eager to go and see the place. We even celebrated my daughter’s birthday here. I must say it is a very perfect and peaceful place,” observed Vsheka Waghani, a tourist from Gwailor.
Jammu and Kashmir has been among the top Asian tourism destinations, particularly for the honeymoon couples, nature lovers, and enthusiasts of adventure sports, skiers and trekkers.
According to official figures, 430,000 tourists, including 23,000 foreigners visited Kashmir in 2008.(ANI)
