Better water-management can keep water borne diseases at bay: Trivedi

New Delhi, Nov. 10 (ANI): Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dinesh Trivedi, on Tuesday called for the need to have better water management, as it could help in keeping many water borne diseases like Dengue at bay.

“If you don’t do water management then if it’s drought or its floods or it’s malaria or it’s dengue or it’s Diarrhea everything stops at water. Had I been the prime minister, I would have spent 30 percent of my budgetary allocation on water because water is the most important thing and water is the beginning of everything,” Trivedi said, while speaking at a Tobacco Control Meet in New Delhi on Tuesday.

BJP leader Harsh Vardhan said that an effective Dengue control movement is very important.

“Any government figure is never the real figure because there is no perfect report mechanism about the cases appearing in various hospitals, various nursing homes, various clinics. What is important is the strategy and ensuring that we have a very effective Dengue control moment in the capital,” he said.

The WHO blames rapid transportation, industrialization and the changing ecology for facilitating Dengue.

There is no vaccine as yet for the dengue fever characterised by severe muscle and joint pains, high fever and acute headaches.

Its most virulent form can cause internal bleeding and even death. (ANI)
