Howrah (West Bengal), May 1 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Friday said that there was a need for a better coordination between the Centre and the State governments to combat terrorism.
Addressing an election rally in West Bengal’s Howrah district, Dr. Singh said: “Coordination is needed between the Centre and state governments as well as among countries to fight terrorism. We have also to take the help of diplomacy on issues relating to terrorism.”
Dr. Singh added that the Congress-led UPA Government was taking steps to strengthen the country’s security and intelligence agencies and would take every step to combat terrorism.
“We are strengthening our security and intelligence agencies,” Dr. Singh said.
Prime Minister, meanwhile, also said that a strong government at the Centre was needed as “danger to the country has increased due to the situation around us.” (ANI)
