Benazirs political treatise-cum-memoir rushed into printDecember 29th, 2007 - 5:03 pm ICT by admin
New York, Dec 28 (ANI): Leading publisher HarperCollins has hastened the release date of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s new book, which is a political treatise-cum-memoir, following her assassination on Thursday.
After receiving the manuscript of Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy and the West, HarperCollins decided to move it quickly to get it on the shelves by February, the Dawn reported.
HarperCollins had signed up the book for an estimated advance of 75,000 dollars just ahead of her return to Pakistan in October after eight years of self-imposed exile.
We have a finished manuscript, HarperCollins CEO Jane Friedman was quoted, as saying.
At the time of sealing the deal with Bhutto, HarperCollins Executive Editor Tim Duggan had said: Pakistan is an increasingly volatile place, and Bhuttos book is an eye-opening look at the mistakes weve made in the region and what we can do to correct them — as well as what the consequences will be if we dont.
