Bangalore, July 8 (ANI): Surgical specialists at the well-known Narayan Hrudayalaya Multiple Hospital in Bangalore are all set to perform a rare and very complicated operation on a one-year-old child born with four legs.

Senior paediatric consultant Dr. Ashley D’Cruz disclosed this on Thursday that a team of doctors would perform the surgery on the child Vitthal born with a rare physical phenomenon of four legs.

“It is a rare condition wherein accessory limbs develop in the gluteal muscles. The gluteal muscles are the three muscles that make up the buttocks of human body,” said Dr D’Cruz explaining the various aspects related to Vitthal’s rare legs.

He also mentioned in science it is widely accepted that adverse embryogenic influences are responsible for this kind of irregular development.

Despite all the complications, Dr. D’cruz and his team of doctors are hopeful of performing a successful surgery on the tiny tot Vitthal, who was born with four legs at Morena in Madhya Pradesh.

“We are quite confident. We have had quite lot of experience with these cases. Recently we have done the Pearson patients and in past we have been involved with Dr. Sharan Patil during the Laxmi Tatma and we do a lot of this pelvic and reconstructive surgery in other fields,” said Dr. D’Cruz.

Vitthal’s family members are also hopeful that the surgery will be a success and their child’s life after the surgery will be normal like other kid of his age.

“We just want the doctors to perform a successful operation on our child and make him a normal child,” said Krishna, a relation of Vitthal from Morena.

There are reports that the surgery may take seven to ten hours time. (ANI)
