Bainsla sets conditions for talks in Jaipur

Bharatpur, June 10 (ANI): The uncertainty over the talks between the Government and the Gujjar leaders continues with Colonel (retired) Kirori singh Bainsla today demanding release of arrested women activists and withdrawal of murder charges against 20 protestors as a pre-condition.

Bainsla has gone back on the written commitment given in Bayana during the first round of talks on Monday.

The agitating Gujjars and the representatives of the Rajasthan Government held the initial round of talks in Bayana yesterday evening.

The Gujjars are demanding inclusion of their caste in the list of Scheduled Tribes (ST) that will provide for reservation in Government jobs and seats in educational institutions.

State Minister Sabarmal Jat and Lakshmi Narayan Dave conducted negotiations with Gujjar leader Ramvir Singh Vidhuri who is leading a 37 member Gujjar delegation at a school here. It was announced at a joint press conference that community leaders had called off a countrywide shutdown on Tuesday. It was also announced that the next round of talks would be held in Jaipur.

During the talks, the Gujjars demanded withdrawal of all cases by the State Government against agitators, compensation of Rs ten lakh , each for dead and a government job for one person for a deceaseds family, compensation of Rs two lakh for the injured and registration of cases against the policemen who fired on protestors.

After the talks, Bainsla told reporters at Karwadi that Gujjars had been assured that arrested protestors, including women and injured would be freed, water and electricity supply restored and telecommunication jammers removed from Karwadi and Pilupura. Meanwhile, demonstrations continue in Pilupura and Sikandra. (ANI)
