Guwahati, Jan 4 (ANI): Faith can move mountains and thats what Bashab Raj Neog, a stuntman from Desoi Nagar Gaon in Jorhat district of Assam has been trying to do. He is trying to move mountains of poverty and deprivation through his sheer efforts.
Martial art is his passion and despite his poor economic background he has been pursuing his passion for the last fifteen years. In fact he has become a rage in the area.
The story of Neog is the story of a small town boy dreaming big. His drive for martial art took him to Kick Boxing School at Jorhat in 1990, where he started bodybuilding that too without any support.
Neog is a very confident man. Unlike other men of his age, he did not loose his hope to the circumstances. He went on doing things on his own.
Today his dream of becoming a big star is still unrealised but he has not lost hope of making big.
There is no one to show me the path and if I will get some help then I will definitely achieve my goal. Whatever I have done, have done on my own and …I think about Limca and Guinness book of world records and I know that I can do this, if I will get some help, I can break the record, Neog said.
Neog may not be a big star but he is an inspiration for the people of his area. They are learning martial arts and are doing stunts also.
His ‘ Manchurian Kung-fu Academy ‘ has produced talents who have won gold and silver medals in the previous National Games.
He wants to expand his school but economic hardships stop him doing that. Right now he have forty students in his school.
Students under him work very hard. His techniques are very tough. I like to practice under him. The tricks are difficult but they increase the stamina. In fact I want to join defence and serve the nation, Satyajit Baruah, student.
I have worked very hard under him to reach this stage. There are various demonstrations that we have got to learn from him. The techniques like bike stunts that he performs are quite different and good, Pranjalti Bordoloi, another student said.
Today he is not only popular in the field of martial art but his popularity is because of his stunt performances also. He is hopeful that some day his name would be in the Guinness Book of world records.
Neog is an inspiration for the younger generation and for those who on the pretext of poverty join militant groups. Person like him represents hope and acts like a lamp post for the whole society. (ANI)
