January 2nd, 2010 - 1:44 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Guwahati, Jan 2 (ANI): Members of the Journalist Federation in Assam staged a rally in Guwahati on Friday to highlight the need for the state government to counter terrorism.
Representatives of 30 other organisations, including some political outfits joined the peace march.
“Those who are claiming that they are going to solve the problem of indigenous people of Assam, they are fighting for independence and right of self-determination of the people but actually we have seen that they are adopting the path of terrorism, they are adopting tactics of terrorism and they are trying to get help from foreign countries which are actually inimical to the people of Assam,” said Jatindra Kumar Borgohain, Advisor, Journalists Federation of Assam.
“I think the government and the terrorist organisation must come forward to resolve the problem through peaceful means, through negotiations. This is our demand actually. Peace is elusive but our demand is powerful. We are demanding that they should come forward to organise peace talks,” he added. (ANI)
