Sonia Gandhi Nanded (Maharashtra), Dec.6 (ANI): Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Monday slammed his rivals for masterminding his removal from the post.

Addressing a rally here, Chavan said: “Some people had given supari to defame me. I am innocent in the Adarsh scam and the inquiry would prove it. I thank Sonia Gandhi for giving me chance to be chief minister twice.”

He also criticised the media, saying a section of it was busy carrying out media trials.

“They are trying to pronounce someone guilty without evidence. This should be stopped,” said Chavan.

He said some were happy after he had stepped down, but their joy had been short lived as one Chavan was replaced with another. He was referring to Prithviraj Chavan taking over as Chief Minister. (ANI)
