June 26th, 2010 - 8:51 pm ICT by ANIPalamu (Jharkhand), June 26(ANI): Artifacts dating back to the Harappan era have been unearthed in Kabra Kala village in Jharkhand’s Palamu District.
Kabra Kala village is situated on a mound, and is spread over a radius of 600 to 700 meters.
“In this Kabra Kala village when we dig, different types of statues and rich minerals are found,” said Ramji Kumar, a local.
Villagers said that full-scale excavation should be carried out in the village so that it could be developed as a tourist destination.
Meanwhile, officials said that the recovered articles belong to various ancient civilizations.
“Till now from Kabra Kala mound we have found an axe from the Neolithic Period, Bronze Age water utensils and Iron Age period furnace,” said Tapas De, Songhati Archeological Council Secretary.
De further said that if proper excavation activity were undertaken in the area, the tradition, culture and lifestyle of people living thousand years ago would be known.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) surveyed the Kabra Kala village twice in December 1999 and April 2000 and declared that articles recovered about 3,600 year old. (ANI)
