Arjun Singh to inaugurate Vice Chancellors” conference today

New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI) Union Minister of Human Resource Development Arjun Singh will inaugurate a conference of Vice Chancellors of the Central Universities and the Directors of Central Technical Institutions here today.
The conference is being organized on the eve of the First National Education Day.
The conference will discuss many important issues relating to Higher Education including the status of utilization of financial assistance provided to the Universities and the Central funded Technical Institutions for implementation of OBC reservation and status and issues relating to filling all the reserved seats in admission.
Financial Assistance to be extended to Central Educational Institutions during XIth Plan for expansion of Higher Education to achieve the objective of ”access” with ”excellence” and recommendation of Chadha Committee in regard to quality issues pertaining to higher education will also be discuss.
The conference will be followed by a Panel discussion on ”Issues Related to Higher Education in XIth Plan” which will be presided by. P. Agrawal, Secretary (HE) with Prof. Sukhdeo Thorat, Chairman UGC, Prof. Goverdhan Mehta and Prof. A. Gnanam on the panel. (ANI)
