Applying ”kinetic energy theory” can make you World Conker Champion

London, Oct 13 (ANI): In a clear case of science being used practically, an English mechanic has used his “kinetic energy theory” to become the World Conker Champion.

Ray Kellock, 62, used the appliance of science to claim the “king conker” crown at the 44th World Conker Championships in Ashton, Northamptonshire.

The strategy, which he devised during his opening game, made him win the next six rounds as well.

“In the first round I was trying to hit my opponents conker as hard as possible but seemed to be causing more damage to mine,” the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

Kellock is a resident of Rushden, Northants, and runs a minibus company.

He added: “I”ve got a scientific mind and it made me think. I decided that it was better to hold my conker still let the opponent whale away and then make sure I hit their conker every time but not too hard.

“It seemed to work and after getting through the first round I won the title. I didn”t have a name for it because I thought it up while I was playing but I think I”ll call it ”Kellock’’s Kinetic Energy Conker Theory””.

The annual championships saw a turnout of over 600 men, women and children, and have raised more than 300,000 pounds since it was launched by a group of Ashton villagers in the mid 1960s.

The participants in the event have to follow strict “rules of engagement” while Ashton Conker Club supplies all conkers and laces. (ANI)
