New Delhi, Dec.19 (ANI): Union Minister for Minority Affairs A.R. Antulay has neither has confirmed nor denied reports about his resignation from the Union Cabinet.

Antulay has reportedly handed over his resignation letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Talking to media outside the Parliament House, Antulay reiterated that the media has misinterpreted his remarks on the death of ATS Chief Hemant Karkare.

Everybody knows that the valiant officers were killed by Pakistani terrorists during the Mumbai attack, but I only wanted to know who directed them to move into the opposite direction than the scene of action in Taj and Oberoi hotels, he said.

The truth must come out as to who pushed these three officers into death trap without providing security personnel to guard them, Antulay added.

He blamed the Opposition, especially Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of playing politics over his remarks.

Defending his stance on the issue, Antulay said neither he nor the Congress Party was embarrassed by the comments regarding the killing of Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare and other officers by the terrorists.

He described himself as a loyal soldier of the Party and said: if the Party (Congress) asks me to step down, I will obey the order.

The Government is expected to make its stand known before the issue before the adjournment of the current session.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said: “The House is meeting for a couple of days. Before the House adjourns we will explain the Governments position. (ANI)
