Antony to visit Seychelles
July 12th, 2010 - 5:55 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, July 12 (ANI): Defence Minister A K Antony will undertake a two-day visit of Seychelles from July 18.
He would be accompanied by a high-level delegation, which would include the Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar and the Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral DK Dewan.
During his visit, Antony will have discussions with the Seychellois leadership on bilateral defence cooperation and implementation of the provisions of the defence cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries.
The two sides would also discuss various security issues, including the maritime security situation in the Indian Ocean region, particularly in the context of the spread of piracy in and from the Gulf of Aden.
Both India and Seychelles will also explore the possibility of cooperation to combat this menace. (ANI)
