Antony to visit Seychelles to boost maritime security
July 12th, 2010 - 6:14 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Jul 12 (ANI): To boost maritime security situation in the Indian Ocean region, Defence Minister AK Antony will be going on a two-day visit to Seychelles on July 18.
During his visit, Antony will have discussions with the Seychellois leadership on bilateral defence cooperation and implementation of the provisions of the defence cooperation MoU between both countries.
Both sides would also discuss various security issues, including the maritime security situation in the Indian Ocean region, particularly in the context of the spread of piracy in and from the Gulf of Aden.
The two sides will also explore the possibility of cooperation to combat this menace.
The Defence Minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, which includes Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar and Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral DK Dewan. (ANI)
