Srinagar, Sep 21 (IANS) Fearing law and order problem after the Friday prayers over an anti-Islam video made in the US, authorities here closed educational institutions and imposed restrictions in old parts of the city.

Although no separatist group has called for a shutdown, educational institutions, including those in the Valley, have been closed to ensure that street protests against the anti-Islam video do not lead to any law and order problem, a police official said.

In Srinagar, some youths disrupted traffic on city roads in the morning and incidents of stone pelting on passing vehicles were also reported in few areas, police said.

While transport plied on the outskirts of the city with hiccups, traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway plied normally.

Shops and business establishments remained partially shut in the civil lines area of Srinagar.

Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in full riot gear have been deployed at sensitive places in Srinagar and other major towns of the Valley.

Reports reaching here from other parts of Jammu and Kashmir like Anantnag and Baramulla also said that shops and other businesses remained shut in the morning.
