Melbourne, Nov 27 (ANI): Entertainment commentator John-Michael Howson has joined the likes of critics who have slammed Nicole Kidman’’s turn in the outback epic Australia.

Howson told Confidential that he agreed with many of the film’’s reviewers who criticized Baz Luhrmann’’s choice of leading lady for the film.

Regarding the woeful reviews surrounding Kidman’’s performance, Howson said: “Oh, you would go and hang yourself in a barn wouldn”t you?”

According to Howson, Kate Winslet would have been the smarter pick for the role of Lady Sarah Ashley.

“If only (Luhrmann) had put Kate Winslet and Russell Crowe in it … I hate to be crude but they look like they would screw,” the Courier Mail quoted Howson, as saying.

“Kate Winslet could pull off that ”English lady getting down and dirty behind the barn” thing. She has energy and would have had chemistry with Russell, and that’’s what movies are about,” he added. (ANI)
