Another bomb found in Surat, total reaches 25
August 9th, 2008 - 9:14 pm ICT by ANI - Send to a friend:Surat , August 9 (ANI): Gujarat police have found another live bomb near Amroli Bridge in Katargam area of Surat . Saturdays finding takes the total number of bombs found in the last fortnight in the city to 25.
We have found a bomb from Katargam area. It is similar to the ones that were found earlier. We have defused it, Deputy Commissioner of Police V. Chandrasekhar said.
The bomb squad opened the packet and defused it, he added.
Reportedly the bomb was found outside Hanuman Temple which devotees throng on Saturdays.
As many as 24 live bombs have been defused in Surat ever since the deadly serial blasts rocked Ahmedabad on July 26.
On July 29 alone, 18 live bombs were recovered in the city and the count increased to over 20 in the following days.
The Gujarat government has till now maintained that the bombs found in the diamond city were an attempt to distract investigations into the Ahmedabad serial blasts. (ANI)
