Angry mob vandalizes nursing home in Ranchi
June 5th, 2010 - 4:56 pm ICT by ANIRanchi (Jharkhand), June 5 (ANI): An angry mob resorted to violence at a private nursing home here on Saturday, and vandalized it after the postnatal death of a young woman.
The mob smashed windowpanes and medical equipments of the nursing home, and later burnt down beds and curtains.
A woman, Sunita Devi was admitted on Friday night to the private nursing home for childbirth. She died this morning of excessive blood loss after giving birth to a healthy girl child.
“After the full blood loss, they asked us to shift her to some other hospital. So, we said, when we have admitted them here, where else can we take them? During this conversation, she died. The child was born here,” said Vinita Devi, a relative.
The furious relatives blamed the doctors and medical staff for negligence, which led to her death.
“This is total negligence on part of the doctor. If they do not have the facility, they should not take such a case,” said Srikant, a local resident.
The police immediately reached the hospital and rounded up the mob indulging in vandalism. (ANI)
