Angelinas talent hampered by her gorgeous face, says Clint EastwoodOctober 6th, 2008 - 2:08 pm ICT by ANI
Sydney, October 6 (ANI): Oscar-winning director Clint Eastwood, who recently gave Angelina Jolie the lead role for his film Changeling, says that the actresss talent is hampered by her spotlight-stealing-beauty.
The actor-filmmaker praised the actress for her acting skills, which he claimed were often overlooked owing to her stunning looks.
He described Jolie as “an actress hampered by her gorgeous face, I think the most beautiful face on the planet.
“People sometimes can”t see past that, to her talent. She’’s on all these magazine covers, so it’’s easy to overlook what an amazing actress is underneath, the Sydney Morning Herald quoted him as saying.
The 78-year-old went on to compare her with Meryl Streep, and said:
“Actors know, with me they aren”t going to be allowed to rehearse a scene for a couple of hours and then get away with doing 25 takes before we get it right. So they come with their full bag of tricks. Angelina is a lot like Meryl Streep in that respect.”
Eastwoods forthcoming period thriller tells a story of a woman who comes to suspect that the son returned to her after kidnapping is not her own.
Jolie, who made her first public appearance since giving birth to her twins, confessed that the films abduction theme had sent shivers up her spine.
She said: “Your worst fear is anything happening to your kids - (it was) the reason I didn”t want to do the film for a long time.
“Every day I came home, and I was clinging to my kids. I was grabbing them. And checking them in the night. It scares me.” (ANI)
