London, Oct 3 (ANI): Oscar winning director Ang Lee is all set to direct a comedy Taking Woodstock based on the landmark festival Woodstock.
Taking Woodstock is based on a book by Elliot Tiber, who granted the original permit for the 1969 event, which became synonymous with the hippy movement.
Lee, who has directed flicks like Brokeback Mountain, Sense and Sensibility, will begin filming the flick at upstate New York, home of the first Woodstock, with a view to releasing the movie ahead of Woodstock’’s 40th anniversary in 2009.
However, Lees spokesman declined elaborate on details of the plot.
“I”m not in a position to discuss details of the film,” BBC quoted Ang Lees spokesman David Lee, as saying.
The Woodstock project took place when Ang Lee met the author Elliot Tiber at a book launch in San Francisco. (ANI)
