Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh), Dec 19 (ANI): A fire broke out inside the ‘Rail Kalyan Mandapam’ (Rail Welfare Hall) auditorium in Anantapur here on Friday (December 18).

The police is investigating the whole issue to find out whether the fire was accidental or set off by miscreants involved in the Telangana protest.

Rama Krishna Reddy, the district revenue officer said it is difficult to find out the culprits as this is a remote area, but the police have begun its investigation into the matter.

“Nearly the entire furniture and materials were burnt to ashes. Ceiling was also destroyed. Security was not proper in this place, that is why incident like this has taken place,” he said.

The Centre’s decision to initiate the process for the formation of the Telangana State has seen agitations and violent demonstrations by both pro- and anti-Telangana groups since December 9. (ANI)
