Anand Sharma offers more incentives for export of selected products
January 13th, 2010 - 1:01 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Jan 13 (ANI): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma has announced that the Central Government would provide more incentives to facilitate exports of about 2,000 products.
Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Shrama said: “I have decided to provide further incentives to following. We will cover approximately 2,000 products under various schemes. The 112 new products have been added under the focussed product scheme to give the 30 benefits at two percent of FOB value of exports for all markets. The major sectors under this include engineering, electronics, rubber, plastics, carbon boxes.”"Products and services in engineering, electronics and chemicals feature in the list of exports which can avail the sops,” he added.
Indian exports have fallen for over a year as the global financial crisis drained demand abroad.
The sharp fall has been arrested and the government expects year-on-year monthly figures to return to positive growth by the end of third quarter or in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year ending March 2010.
India’s exports rose an annual 18.2 percent in November to 13.2 billion dollars, the first rise after 13 straight months of decline.
Last week, Sharma had mentioned that his ministry would recommend additional fiscal stimulus for some exporters in the union budget in February. (ANI)
