An Indian brand rated No. 1 in US departmental stores: US rating agency

Kochi, Nov 10 (ANI): Despite all global market speculations and US economy meltdown an Indian company’’s brand makes its foray in the US supermarkets by becoming the No. 1 brand in unbranded shrimp category, according to the recent reports of A.C Nelson.

The ready to cook shrimp brand ”Tastee Choice” has been top rated in its category by international rating agency after studying the sales records for the past one year.

According to the company CEO and Managing Director Jose Thomas, It is for the first time that an Indian food processing company’’s brand has been rated and become No. 1 in the US markets under the unbranded shrimp category especially in the departmental stores and retail outlets across US and this brings a proud moment not only for our company but for the entire nation, he said.

The Kerala based Choice Group has been associated in exporting frozen and processed foods for more than 50 years with outsourcing offices and processing units set across Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The brand name is legally registered with the Trade Mark Authority in the United States.

Frozen and processed foods like Tail-on Black Tiger Shrimp, Cooked Salad Shrimp, Cooked Peeled and Deveined Tail-on Tiger Shrimp, Headless White Individually Quick frozen Shrimp are some favourites products sold and promoted through Retail Chain in the US.

The rating agency in its reports stated the total one-year sales of ”Tastee Choice” brand in America were 25.12 million dollar from total sales of 23 million units.

Jose added that the group’’s total turnover from the US market for its various frozen and ready to cook products, including Tastee Choice was 58 million dollar as per 2006-07 fiscal.

The company is targeting to cross 75 million dollar in the current fiscal year and forecasting more than 150 million dollar by 2012. (ANI)
