Amritsars Idiots club lampoons Indian hockey ahead of HoliMarch 20th, 2008 - 8:07 pm ICT by admin
Amritsar Mar.20 (ANI): The Indian hockey teams failure to qualify for the Olympics for the first time in 80 years, has given enough fodder to satirists to lampoon both players and the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF).
Ahead of the festival of colours, Holi, members of Amritsars Idiots Club came out onto the streets, waved banners and placards, and jocularly requested the government to appoint IHF chief K.P.S Gill to the post for life.
Rajinder Singh Rikhi, the president of the club, said: The Government of India should place the hockey sticks of this team in the National Museum and also supply these hockey sticks to hospitals as crutches for the disabled. The government should notify police stations that hockey sticks should be considered as a weapon of rascals. Members of the club, attired in hockey uniform, attracted hundreds of people outside Amritsars Hall Gate.
Paramjit Singh Randhawa, a club member, said: Now, K. P. S. Gill and his team should open up an academy that could effectively train anyone how to get defeated.
Celebrating the clubs fourth anniversary today, members carried placards that read “Hockey HarooDesh Bachaoo” (Lose In Hockey Save The Nation), ” Gill Hain To Bahar Hain Nahin To Hockey Bekar Hain” (Happiness Is Possible Only With K.P.S Gill, Otherwise Everything Is Futile) and “Hockey Nal Karoo Na DhokhaGundian Da Hathiyar Hain Pakka” (Dont Ditch HockeyIt Is A Favourite Weapon Of The Notorious) to express their anguish in a lighter vein.
Bholu Amritsaria demanded that government should declare hockey a rare article, as it had already lost its glory thanks to K.P. S. Gill.
Some idiots praised Gill for saving the national team from probable injury by not qualifying for the Beijing Olympics.
The Idiots Club is a group of people in Amritsar that is known for its take on current events. The club takes up issues appearing in the idiot box and brings it out in the open.
Today, the Idiots’ Club has over 200 members. Be it doctors, engineers, or individuals running roadside food joints, electric shops, all of them enjoy meeting together on various occasions to launch satirical diatribes at civic authorities, politicians and unscrupulous holy men who have a habit of duping the common man.
