Amritsar students protest against recent Mumbai attacks
December 26th, 2008 - 3:12 pm ICT by ANI Amritsar, Dec 26 (ANI): Hundreds of school children staged a demonstration in Amritsar city to voice their anguish at the recent terror attacks in Mumbai.
The students dressed in army uniforms and chanting patriotic slogans, vowed to fight the terrorists.
The function organized on the occasion of the birth centenary of the Shaheed Uddham Singh who played a key role in India’’s freedom struggle, the students took out a march at Jallianwala Bagh and took a pledge to defend their motherland.
“Today we want to give this message on Shaheed Uddham Singh’’s birth anniversary that even if we have to lay down our lives to protect the nation, we are ready. As for the recent attacks on Mumbai where Pakistan’’s hand was suspected, we are not afraid of the enemy and we will face them with all our determination,” said Divya, a school student.
It may be recalled that ten Gunmen had attacked Mumbai’’s top two luxury hotels, its biggest railway station and several other landmarks with grenades and assault rifles in a rampage beginning on November 26 night. (ANI)
