Amendment in Delhi Tax on Luxuries Act 1996 comes into force
September 21st, 2010 - 8:14 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Sep.21 (ANI): With the issuance of a notification on an amendment in the Delhi Tax on Luxury Tax, 1996, rooms in hotels and guesthouses in the national capital upto a daily rent of Rs. 1000 will not attract any Luxury Tax and be fully exempted from this tax.
Earlier, threshold limit was Rs. 500 per day.
The threshold limit has been enhanced from Rs.500/- to Rs.1000/- to lend a helping hand to visitors looking for the rooms at very reasonable rates.
Delhi Finance Minister Dr. A.K.Walia on Tuesday said keeping in view the 19th Commonwealth Games, the Department of Excise, Luxury Tax Branch, Government of Delhi has issued a notification on an amendment in the Delhi Tax on Luxury Tax, 1996 which was approved by the Legislative Assembly in its Monsoon Session.
The amendment has come in to force with effect from Sep.20, 2010, he informed. (ANI)
