Ambika Soni condoles death of veteran journalist Ajit Bhattacharjea

Ambika Soni New Delhi, Apr 5 (ANI): Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni has condoled the death of Ajit Bhattarcharjea, a veteran journalist and renowned editor who passed away yesterday.

In her message to the bereaved family, Soni said in his illustrious career, Bhattacharjea set new standards with every assignment that he handled. He had the vision to understand the needs of print media with the passage of time.

“In his profile of active journalism which covered nearly six decades, he understood the relevance of news in the context of the common man. He always believed in maintaining a balance between content presentation and the needs of the reader,” she added.

Soni further said apart from being a journalist, Bhattacharjea, was a scholar of renowned repute. His thorough understanding of the Indian political system enabled him to edit and write several important books.

“Print Media shall always remember Bhattacharjea for his invaluable contribution made towards their development during the past several decades. I pray to God that his family gathers the necessary strength to overcome this loss,” she added.

Bhattacharjea passed away on Monday after a brief battle with brain tumour. He was 86. (ANI)
