New Delhi, Jan. 29 (ANI): Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni has condemned the molestation of an under-teen Russian girl in Goa.
“Every other day such incidents are taking place, and I think the Goa government should take it up on priority and on urgent basis. Such cases should not take place repeatedly, the government needs to take immediate steps to check such incidents,” said Soni.
The former Tourism Minister made these comments on the sidelines of the inauguration of the 16th International Broadcasting Engineering Exhibition (BES EXPO) here on Friday.
Ambika Soni urged chief ministers of all states to bolster security arrangements so that such shameful incidents could be prevented.
“I want to urge to the Chief Minister of every state, no matter to whichever party they belong, to look into the incidents much more closely if we want to improve tourism in our country, and as we know that it is increasing in India at a pace. So, it becomes the responsibility of the government to ensure the safety of the tourists on a priority bases,” Soni said.
On Tuesday, an under-teen girl was molested and raped by an unidentified person while another person kept the mother of the girl engaged in conversation to draw away her attention.
On December 25, two Russian girls alleged that a taxi driver tried to rape them at Anjuna Beach while they were returning from a Christmas party. (ANI)
