New Delhi, Jan 5 (ANI): The all party meeting on Telangana convened by the Union Government on Tuesday could not arrive at a consensus but appealed to the people of Andhra Pradesh to maintain peace and harmony and allow the government to initiate development activities.

“We have expressed our views at the meeting and they have been noted by the Central government,” a brief joint statement of the all parties stated.

“It is our earnest appeal that peace, harmony, and law and order should be maintained in the State,” the statement added.

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram called all the eight recognised political parties for consultation on Tuesday morning to evolve a roadmap to solve the Telangana state issue, which has witnesses a lot of violent activities in the state.

“The centre is only playing the role of a facilitator, the meeting was conveyed to help all the political parities to arrive at a consensus,” said P. Chidambaram after the meet.

Chidambaram informed that he would brief the views expressed by different political parties to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during their meet and hoped a decision would be arrived “in a reasonable time.”

He, however, also hinted that another all party meeting is likely to be held.

Now it is clear that the ball is in Delhi’s court, so the future of Andhra Pradesh and following political developments depend on decision of the Centre.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti Chief K Chandrasheksr Rao said no decision was taken during the meeting, and he would wait till the final decision of the Centre.”

Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) Chief and Cine Star Chiranjeevi alleged that Congress and Telugu Desam Party are playing with the future of the Andhra Pradesh people.

Chiranjeevi said that his party was not satisfied with Tuesday’s meeting and added that only united Andhra Pradesh could achieve more development.

Both Congress and TDP sent their representatives each from Telangana and Rayalseema regions placed their individual opinion.

Speaking to ANI, TDP leader and former minister Yerren Naidu said that it is not a flip-flop in his party’s stand but the party is acting as per the direction of people.”

During the meeting, the BJP demanded the Centre to bring Telangana Bill in the next parliament session, while the MIM party demanded that the interest of minority community should be taken into consideration while taking any decision.

In the morning, the heat of pro and anti Telangana protest reached the high security North Block area when two different groups started sloganeering for Telangana and for-united Andhra in front of Home Ministry.

Meanwhile, all the protesting activists were arrested by the police. (ANI)
